Pinotage is South Africa’s trademark grape. This is a certified ‘Fairtrade’ wine. Strong, yet soft and easy drinking.

Cherry and plum characters on the nose and subtle chocolate overtones on the palate. Quite a rich and complex wine with good length and balance.

21. Sauvignon Blanc Friuli Grave DOC 2005 – Arcano (Italy)
North East Italy produces some of the Italy’s finest white wines, this one is no exception. 100% Sauvignon Blanc with its typically buoyant aroma reminiscent of yellow flowers, sage, mint and peppers. A wine of great composition.

22. Pinot Grigio Fruili Grave DOC 2004/05 – Arcano (Italy)
Another exceptional wine from the same vineyard as above. Dry, full and elegant with a pleasantly bitter flavour.

Slow ripening grapes from the foothills of the Andes have created a wine with plentiful tropical fruits and a creamy finish. Dr Rodolfo Nale and his wife Carla are rightfully proud of their rigorously inspected organic estate.

24. Contessa Staffa Rosato IGT Daunia 2005 (Italy)
Created from the Montipulciano grape a delicious drink with a lovely pink colour. The wine is reminiscent of wild strawberries and other small red berries. A perfect balance between velvety soft and crisp.

Full and fragrant with a slightly herbaceous aroma and lots of fruit. This is a dry, well structured wine with typical Merlot softness and smoothness.

26. Cabernet Sauvignon Fruili Grave DOC 2003 – Castello di Arcano (Italy)
Whilst having an intense fruity aroma this Cabernet is lighter than many and no less attractive for it. Oak aged for just six months in barriques adding very gentle hints of vanilla to the typical Cabernet characteristics.
